MINOYAKI
Crockery made in and around Tajimi and Toki regions in Gifu, Japan.
They are made from fine local clay, which is easy to work on, is low in iron, and makes the best use of glaze.
Minoyaki has been famous all over Japan since 16th century.
SHINOYAKI, ORIBE, KISETO, and SETOGURO are kinds of MINOYAKI.
SHINOYAKI
A kind of MINOYAKI.
They are put thick white glaze on, and burned in incomplete combustion.
ESHINO, NEZUMISHINO and AKASHINO are kinds of SHINOYAKI.
ORIBEYAKI
A kind of MINOYAKI.
They were developed in favour of Oribe-Shigenari Furuta (1544-1615), who was not only a brave warlord but also a votary of the tea cult.
Characteristics are; asymmetry in shape, abstract drawings, and boldness in colour.
Oribe fought along with Nobunaga and Hideyoshi, was a leading pupil of Rikyu Sen, a father of tea ceremony, and taught tea ceremony to the 2nd Shogun Hidetada.
AOORIBE, AKAORIBE, and KUROORIBE are kinds of ORIBEYAKI.
AOORIBE
A kind of ORIBEYAKI.
They are put green glaze partly and white glaze partly on,
then drawn abstract in iron on white part.
