Green teas sold at Yoshida Shouten are all vacuum packed in a air/light tight bag and airlifted directly from tea farm in Japan to Australia.
They are then stored at room temperature for a short period before despatched to customers.
Unlike other tea suppliers, we never get our tea sent by long hot sea cargo, nor store teas in hot humid warehouse nor leave them on store shelf for long time. So we assure you our teas retain their best capacity.
How to make green tea
It is important for green tea making to use lower hot temperatured water, not boiling hot water.
Step 1 Pour hot water up to 80% of tea cups.
Step 2 Put green tea leaves in a tea pot. Use 2 table spoonful for big tea pot, and 1 table spoonful for smaller pot.
Step 3 Pour hot water from the tea cups to the tea pot. Wait for one minute.
Step 4 Pour greentea to the tea cups evenly.
Step 5 Keep tea leaves in air-tight container at cool dark place.
How to make Iced green tea
Use the same procedure till pouring hot water in the tea pot.
1 Fill a glass with lots of ice cubes.
2 Pour green tea to the glass.
3 Iced tea is ready.
4 Add syrup and/or milk for your taste.
Water temperature and taste of green tea
Good green tea has a harmony of aroma, astringent taste (tannin), and sweetness (amino acid)
When a hot water temperature is higher, tannin comes out quickly and heavily. So green tea tastes more astringent.
When a hot water temperature is lower, we feel amino acid more. So green tea tastes sweeter.
How to keep green tea
Once opened, please put whole bag in a can then keep in in fridge.
We can keep unopened green tea for long time by keeping it in fridge.
Use of good water
To make tasty green tea requires to use good water. Tap water has trace chlorine in it, and chlorine odour ruins green tea aroma and destroy vitamin C in green tea.
How to make tap water good for green tea making
* Leave tap water run for a while, then store water in kettle or pan for overnight.
or
* Boil water for 5 minutes with a lid open.
or
* Place a piece of charcoal in kettle, and boil water.
Effect of green tea
* Losing a weight
Catechin in green tea prevents absorption of sugar and fat by intestine. It also works to help action of bowels and metabolism. Caffein accelerate burning fat. Vitamin Bs stimulate action of enzyme which accelerate dissolution of fat. Vitamin C prevents oxidation of fat and make it easy to dissolute.
Eating green tea leaves is much more effective to lose a weight than drinking green tea.
* Antibacterial effect
Tannins and Catechins have strong antibacterial effect. Tea bath is said effective for athlete's foot and atopic dermatitis. Tea dyed cloth reduce MRSA and coli bactilli.
* Remedy for hay fever
Catechins and caffeine restrain action of fat cells which produce histamine, the cause substance. Antihistamine drug makes takers drowsy, but green tea does not. Drinking green tea every 3 hours 2 litre a day should work. Please start drinking green tea 2 weeks before hay fever symptoms appear. Drinking tea in relaxing environment also helps reducing stress, another factor of allergic symptoms.
* Deodorant effect
Dry used green tea leaves, and place it in fridge or ill-odoured container. They will stop smelling in no time.
